Scholarship funds and tributes are pouring in on behalf of a passionate North Jersey music teacher and mother following her tragic passing at age 38.
Meredith Sullivan Boyan, of New Vernon, died Thursday, August 10, leaving a legacy of “strength and courage,” her obituary says.
Born in New Brunswick, Meredith was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville High School, where she participated in jazz, concert, and marching bands, as well as theater, and chorus before graduating in 2003.

The late Tyrone Fashaw, 68, attended Perth Amboy High School where he excelled as a three-sport student-athlete. He was a natural at most sports, so much so that he was given the nickname, "Flash" for his above-average speed, according to Kenneth Ortiz, who organized this GoFundMe page.

A man whose body was found in a Long Island cove has been identified as a former employee of the New York City Opera and a chef who had a lifelong passion for music.
Keith Viagas, of Sag Harbor, died on Saturday, Aug. 6, from drowning near his home in Sag Harbor Cove. He was age 63.
Viagas grew up in Franklin Square, attending both John Street School and H. Frank Carey High School, where he appeared in musicals, according to his obituary.
