19: Worcester Is On Newest List Of 'High-Risk' Communities
The people of Worcester are at high-risk of catching COVID-19, according to new information from the state. On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Massachusetts released an updated COVID-19 map showing where the “hot-spots” or areas with high infection rates are located. Worcester has made the state's “red” list, so named for the state’s color-coded risk assessment. Red is reserved for the communities with the highest risk of COVID-19 infection. 19: Trendy 'Parking Lot Party' Ends In Arrests
“Parking lot parties” are a COVID-19 trend that has been keeping police busy in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Now that bars and clubs are closed and normal gatherings can only have a limited number of guests, parking lot parties that skirt the law have become popular. They are gatherings of large groups, usually 50-100 people, in the early morning hours between 1 and 3 a.m. in a large, empty parking lot. Holyoke will soon have free COVID-19 testing sites for residents as the city is added to the growing list of “Stop the Spread” communities. Gov. Charlie Baker said, on Tuesday, Aug. 18, that facilities offering free COVID-19 testing will be added to Holyoke as well as Salem and Saugus. Several days ago, Holyoke and Granby were identified by state public health officials as Western Massachusetts communities with the highest risk of COVID-19 infection. Three MA Police Officers 'Stabbed,' 'Slashed' In Incident
An armed suspect has allegedly "stabbed" and "slashed" three police officers with a knife. On the morning of Thursday, Aug. 6, three Saugus police officers responding to a situation on Tuttle Street were injured by a suspect with a knife, police said. The officers were transported to a Boston hospital and are expected to survive, police said. The suspect was taken into custody, police said.
