Two Kentucky residents were slapped with marijuana distribution charges earlier this week after a truck inspection in Warren County led to the discovery of 179 pounds of marijuana and a loaded handgun, authorities said. New Jersey State Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection of a truck towing a trailer on Route 78 in Alpha on Monday, Nov. 13, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pair Hospitalized After Vehicle Flips On Rt. 78 In Hunterdon County
Two people were taken to a local hospital after a vehicle flipped onto its roof on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Sunday morning, Sept. 17, responders said. The Whitehouse Rescue Squad responded to the crash on the westbound side in Readington and found the vehicle upside-down with one occupant still trapped inside. Fire crews from Whitehouse and Oldwick assisted in extricating the remaining occupant and stabilizing the vehicle before EMS professionals from Hunterdon Health transported two patients to nearby hospitals for additional evaluation and treatment.

Pickup Truck Hauling Trailer Strikes SUV, Flees On Route 78: State Police
An SUV was struck by a pickup truck hauling a trailer in a late-night hit-and-run on Route 78 on Monday, August 28, state police said. The SUV was hit from behind by a pickup truck with a trailer that fled the scene just after midnight on the eastbound side near milepost 20.4 in Lebanon Borough, NJSP SFC Philip Curry told Daily Voice. A 54-year-old dump truck driver killed in a crash on Route 78 had been mourning the loss of his mom, loved ones say. Kevin A. Cougle, of Rockaway, died when his truck and other vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Exit 49B in Springfield around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, New Jersey State Police said. The latest forecast has increased the amount of snow in what's expected to be the first winter storm headed to the region Monday, Feb. 27. Driver Dies During Medical Emergency On Route 78
A motorist died during a medical emergency that resulted in a crash in Hunterdon County, authorities said. New Jersey State troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 78 westbound near milepost 20.2 in Lebanon Borough at 2:14 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16. Based on a preliminary investigation, the driver of a Chevy Silverado suffered a medical emergency and subsequently struck the center median guardrail, State Police said. Troopers performed life-saving measures but the driver was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver's name had not been released.

27-Year-Old Man Killed In Route 78 Crash
A 27-year-old man from Hillsborough died in a crash on Route 78 Monday, Feb. 13, authorities said. Sebastian Hofmann was heading east in a Dodge pickup truck when he struck a Tesla around 10:10 p.m. in Warren Township, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. The Tesla crossed the roadway to the left and struck a metal guardrail in impact while the Dodge ran off the road to the left and struck several trees and overturned. Hofmann was ejected and killed. The crash remains under investigation.
