Hackensack FD: Exhaust Fan Fire Turns Into Destructive Blaze
UPDATE: What began as an exhaust fan fire turned into a raging blaze that destroyed a Hackensack office building. No injuries were reported in the fire, which broke out at the 2½-story Noracare Wellness building on Main Street just off eastbound Route 4 shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, city firefighters said. Firefighters were dousing flames between the floor and ceiling when some of the drop ceiling came down, they said. A tanker truck rolled Tuesday morning on a ramp from eastbound Route 4 to northbound Route 17 in Paramus. A worker survived a fall of nearly five stories from an apartment building under construction in Hackensack on Wednesday, authorities said. A driver climbed out of his SUV after it rolled Monday on Route 4 in Englewood. The Bergen County Sheriff's Office responded to investigate and handle traffic after the Toyota 4Runner toppled a sign and ended up on its side. City firefighters responded, as well. The driver didn't appear injured.
