: Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Clifton Crash
UPDATE: A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries after a Friday crash that continued to keep eastbound Route 3 closed, responders said. The victim was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson after both Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support units responded to the 6 p.m. crash. The highway remained closed and still hadn't reopened well over an hour later, as investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. Driver Critical After Garbage Truck Plummets Off Overpass
A Union City DPW garbage truck plummeted off an overpass onto westbound Route 495 in Weehawken after the driver suffered a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon, responders told Daily Voice. The driver was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with critical injuries, they said. A passenger in the truck sustained a broken femur, police at the scene told Daily Voice. Route 3 Transformer Fire Knocks Power In Clifton
Traffic was backed up on Route 3 as firefighters worked to put out a transformer fire that knocked power out for hundreds of people in Clifton Saturday. The three right eastbound lanes were closed with 20 minute delays as of noon, 511nj.org reports. The driver of an SUV that snapped a utility pole and rolled over Saturday morning on rain-slicked eastbound Route 46 in Clifton sustained a head injury, responders said. The patient, who had to be extricated before being hospitalized, was conscious following the crash with another vehicle just before 9 a.m. near the Route 3 split, they said. Clifton police chased down a man who they said carjacked a woman at knifepoint, then crashed her Mercedes and left it the middle of Route 21 with two flat tires, authorities said. A man was struck and killed on Route 3 in East Rutherford late Friday after getting off a stalled bus. The victim apparently walked away from the disabled bus with his phone just before 11 p.m. when he was struck, responders said.
