A woman died and two others were injured in an overnight crash on the New Jersey Turnpike early Monday morning in Essex County.
A Chevy Malibu that was disabled in the right lane was struck from behind by a Dodge Ram around 4:10 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway near milepost 105.7 in Newark, NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry said.
The Chevy was sent into the left concrete barrier and the Ram overturned, killing the Chevy passenger -- Monique Lucas, 55, of the Bronx --and seriously injuring the driver, Jermal Jordan, 33, of the Bronx, Curry said.

The identity has been released of a woman who was struck and killed by a car shortly after she fell onto a Long Island roadway, police announced.
The incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 9 at approximately 6:45 p.m. in Lindenhurst.
The woman, now ID'd as 67-year-old Theresa Buckley, of Lindenhurst, fell into the southbound lane of Wellwood Avenue, near Hartford Street, and was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet sedan being driven by Max Priore, age 27, of Lindenhurst, Suffolk County Police.

Woman Faces DUI Charge Following Crash In Fairfield County
A woman was arrested for alleged DUI after turning herself in to police for a crash that took place earlier this year in Fairfield County.
Blaine Stiegler, 32, of Westport, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 5, in connection with the crash which took place around 5 p.m., Saturday, August 22, said the New Canaan Police.
Stiegler turned herself in after a warrant was issued for her arrest, police said.
On the day of the crash, which took place on Silvermine Road, police said Stiegler had a blood alcohol level of .37 percent or more than three times the legal limit.

A suspect has been nabbed for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash at a busy Long Island intersection that seriously injured two people, police said.
The crash occurred at around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 in Islandia.

A moving taxi overturned and crashed on Route 3 in Clifton when a passenger from the Jersey Shore stabbed and slashed the driver during a robbery attempt, authorities said.
The cabbie was taking Jordan White, 20, to Montclair after picking him up in Manhattan when White convinced him to open the divider between them on westbound Route 3 around 4 a.m. Monday, Lt. Robert Bracken said.
