Gun Trafficking Group Operated In Pottstown, Boyertown: Prosecutors
Nine members of a suspected gun trafficking organization are in police custody, said the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office in a release on Tuesday, July 30. The group, which operated out of its alleged members' homes and storage units in Pottstown and Boyertown, "specialized in the acquisition and distribution of illegal firearms," prosecutors said. The owner of a headstone company is accused of ripping off hundreds of grieving customers across greater Philadelphia, federal prosecutors allege in an indictment. Gregory J. Stefan Jr., 54, of Upper Merion, is charged with seven counts of wire fraud, according to the US Attorney's Office. Between January 2018 and September of last year, Stefan accepted more than $1.5 million from customers who ordered memorials for loved ones, then failed to deliver the headstones they bought, authorities said. A teenager was injured in a shooting at a Pottstown apartment complex on Tuesday, July 2, police said in a release. Officers responded to a fight involving teenage girls at the Bright Hope Community apartments on Myrtle Street at 7:30 p.m., said authorities. Man ID'd After Fatal Fire In Pottstown: Coroner
A 53-year-old man died after the early morning blaze in Pottstown on Thursday, May 30, according to officials. Bradley Ludwig died from complications of thermal burns and smoke inhalation, said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. The manner of death was ruled accidental. Firefighters responded to a blaze in their own station in Pottstown on Thursday night, April 18, authorities said in a release.
