The Port Authority is set to approve contracts for the construction of cashless tolling equipment at the George Washington Bridge, and Lincoln and Holland tunnels, ABC reports. The new system will likely be up and running in 2021. The tunnels have $60 million budgeted for each with $89 million for the George Washington Bridge. Eighty-eight percent of drivers already use an EZ Pass to pay tolls, Port Authority said. Port Authority introduced cashless tolling to the Bayonne Bridge in 2017, and to Outerbridge Crossing this year.

PATH At World Trade Center Will Remain Open This Weekend The Port Authority is suspending ongoing tunnel work this weekend for the Easter holiday, the agency said Thursday.  As a result, there will be direct weekend PATH service to the World Trade Center.  Weekend service to the World Trade Center has been suspended while repairs are made to tunnels damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Juan Gutierrez, 33, of the Bronx was behind the wheel of a black Honda Pilot stopped just before 7 a.m Tuesday, said Lenis Rodrigues, a spokeswoman for Port Authority police said. PAPD police found that he had three outstanding E-ZPass accounts totaling $20,089 owed in tolls and fees combined. They arrested Gutierrez, issued him a summons charging him with theft of services and toll evasion and released him pending a hearing.
