Police: Three Kids Found In Paterson Apartment Where Ex-Con Sold Crack
Police found three young children during the raid of a Paterson drug den, authorities said. Tipsters pointed detectives to a unit at the Congdon Mill Apartments, a converted factory on Van Houten Street between Lou Costello Park and the Passaic River, where they said drugs were being sold, city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. A series of subsequent undercover crack buys led to the raid and arrests of ex-con Tymir L. Leary, 32, and Yasmine B. York, 30. Man Drowns In Passaic River
A men fell into the Passaic River and drowned Thursday night in Essex County, authorities said. Officers responded to City Dock Street at the riverfront around on reports of a man who fell in around 9:40 p.m. in Newark, the city's public safety director Brian O’Hara said. Officers pulled the unresponsive male from the water and EMS responded. The unidentified male was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information was available.

It was a case of all’s well that ends well – except for the amount of resources that were needed – when a report that a man had jumped into the Passaic River proved unfounded Thursday. Passaic police said they found the city man whom responders initially thought had jumped from the Union Avenue Bridge in Rutherford. Fair Lawn police acting on a tip found a trio of handguns behind a local restaurant. Checking out the tip from a retired Parsippany police officer of weapons dumped into the Passaic River, officers found the guns Wednesday night in a box on the riverbank behind Lucky Steak Plate on Maple Avenue off River Road. Three Paterson men were wounded in two separate shootings on either side of the Passaic River only 20 minutes and barely a half-mile apart, authorities said. Man's Body Recovered From Passaic River In Kearny
A man's body was recovered from the Passaic River Wednesday morning in Kearny. Firefighters responded to a portion of the river behind a shopping center at 175 Passaic Ave., around 10:50 a.m. The cause and manner of death were pending an examination by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, Kearny police said. Police nabbed four juveniles after they bailed out of a stolen car that landed in the Passaic River in Clifton. Miraculously, none of them were seriously injured, authorities said. A convicted drug dealer who was only just released from prison was captured after leading Clifton police on a high-speed chase, bailing out and hiding in a row of commercial buildings between the Passaic River and Route 21, authorities said. The victim’s body was found along the banks of the Passaic River in Pennington Park shortly after 9:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
