Clifton Man, 23, Shot Dead In Broad Daylight On Busy Paterson Street
Police were looking for a black Dodge Charger with tinted windows and black rims after a 23-year-old Clifton man was shot and killed outside a Paterson nightclub in the late afternoon, authorities confirmed. Divan E. Tejeda had been shot once in the chest when police found him on Market Street across from the Bonfire Mofongo House and Lounge shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday, responders said. CPR was in progress as Tejeda was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead soon after. It was Paterson’s fifth homicide this year. Pickup Driver, 77, Killed In West Milford Crash
A 77-year-old driver was killed when his pickup truck slammed into a utility pole and overturned in West Milford, authorities said. Gary Bartholomew of Hewitt was driving a 2005 Nissan Frontier that crashed on Lakeshore Drive in the area of Warwick Turnpike and Maple Shade Road at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and West Milford Police Chief James DeVore said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, they said Wednesday, adding that no other vehicles were involved. The road was reopened at 2:30 p.m.

A convicted child molester from Paterson was the gunman who shot and killed an out-of-county man behind the city public library last week, authorities said. Ex-con Jaquan Housey, 33, was charged with murder and weapons offenses in the slaying of Rodney Phelps, 39, of Warren County’s Washington Township. A Paterson man was shot dead outside an apartment building in one of the city’s deadliest neighborhoods. The killing of 43-year-old Juan Soto was the third this year in the Silk City’s 4th Ward.
