Rail service on NJ Transit’s Pascack Valley Line was suspended in both directions Friday, Aug. 15, after a person was struck and killed by a train in River Edge, rail officials said. Pascack Valley Line Train 1621, which departed Hoboken at 3:02 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Spring Valley, N.Y. at 4:10 p.m., struck and and killed a man just west of New Bridge Landing Station just after 3:30 p.m., an NJ Transit spokesperson said. NJ Transit officials have released the identity of the woman struck and killed by a train in Hackensack last week. Luz E. Lopez, 79, a city resident, was struck and killed by a train Thursday morning, Aug. 7 in Hackensack, NJ Transit said. Records show Lopez lived on Union Street, just one block from the crash scene. Woman Killed By Train In Hackensack, NJ Transit Says
A woman was struck and killed by a train Thursday morning, Aug. 7 in Hackensack, NJ Transit officials said. Just before 10 a.m., Pascack Valley Line Train 1651, which left Hoboken at 9:34 a.m.and was scheduled to arrive at New Bridge Landing at 10:01 a.m., struck the trespasser Sussex Street and Railroad Ave near Essex Street Station in Hackensack, a spokesperson for the agency said. There were no other injuries to the approximately five customers and crew on board. Service was suspended in both directions but has since resumed. New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.

ID Of Man Killed By Train In Hackensack Released
Officials have released the identity of the man struck and killed by a train in Hackensack earlier this week. Kevin C. Morales, 36, was struck by Pascack Valley Line train #1624 on Thursday, May 22 at approximately 11:36 a.m., according to NJ Transit spokesman Kyalo Mulumba. Morales was subsequently pronounced dead.
