A Bergen County father and son admitted they conned mostly elderly investors out of $3 million – after getting caught earlier scamming the very same people and others out of $5.5 million. Smoky Park Ridge Fire Put Down
A victim required hospitalization after a smoky fire that began in the kitchen of a Park Ridge home spread to the attic on Sunday, authorities said. Assisting their Park Ridge colleagues at the two-alarm Doxey Drive blaze were firefighters from Hillsdale, Montvale, Westwood and Woodcliff Lake. Discarded Cigarette Ignited Fire That Ravaged River Vale Home, Responders Say
UPDATE: A smoldering cigarette discarded in a planter ignited a fire that blew through the roof of a River Vale home last week, authorities said. A resident of the Pascack Avenue home "was smoking a cigarette outside hours earlier," a law enforcement contact with direct knowledge of the incident told Daily Voice. "She put it out in a planter and it smoldered for hours until it ignited." Dominique Franco of Park Ridge was on a mission to save the world. The senior University of Rhode Island nursing major was on track to a career in pediatric oncology. At 17, she launched a fundraiser that collected toys and hundreds of dollars for pediatric cancer patients. Franco's mission was tragically cut short on Saturday, when she died at 21 years old. A hidden camera caught a home health aide assaulting a 90-year-old stroke victim at an assisted living facility in Park Ridge, said authorities who arrested her. UPDATE: A fire that killed a 77-year-old Montvale widow in her home last weekend was ignited by a discarded cigarette, authorities said Friday. The blaze that tore through the North Avenue home of Ninette Grannis broke out just before 1 p.m. Sunday.
