An occupied 1999 Ford Explorer was stopped in the westbound HOV lane at Exit 48 in Plainview when the vehicle's rear was struck by a 2018 Kia Sportage travelling in the same direction, Nassau County Police said.  Upon impact the 1999 Ford Explorer caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, said police.
