Extricated Rockland Driver, Daughter, 2, Hospitalized In Route 287 Flying Tire Crash
A seriously-injured Rockland County driver was flown out by medical chopper and his 2-year-old daughter was also hospitalized following a freak accident Thursday morning, May 6 on Route 287, said NJ State Police, who were seeking witnesses.
A wheel became dislodged from a northbound vehicle, bounded over the median, and crashed into a southbound Ford Fusion in the area of Exit 58 just south of Skyline Drive in Oakland shortly before 8:30 a.m., Trooper Charles Marchan said.
The Ford then struck the center and right barriers before careening into the woods off the highway, he said.

A security guard who claimed to be sexually assaulting children while on the phone with 911 dispatchers and crisis hotline counselors in New Jersey and New York was charged with causing a false public alarm, authorities said.
John LaForgia, 36, of Staten Island made more than 130 bogus calls to law enforcement agencies and crisis hotlines in various jurisdictions, including Hackensack, Oakland, Ramsey, and Ridgewood, over the course of only two weeks, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Monday.

After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June, GNC has announced closures of an additional 40 stores.
The nutritional supplement company had originally planned on closing just 10 stores.
