Truck Crashes Into House In Putnam
Residents of a home where a tree-service truck slammed into their Patterson smashed were lucky that no one was injured. The incident took place around 11:57 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, on Newport Road in the Putnam Lake section, said members of the Putnam Lakes Fire Department. When units arrived on the scene, they found a tree company truck with a chipper had careened into a house when no one was in the truck and it rolled down a hill and into the garage of the home. Storm Knocks Out Power In Dutchess County
Hundreds of area residents have lost power as a strong pre-Christmas storm with drenching rain and gusty winds is hitting the region. As of 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, NYSEG was reporting that 514 of its 38,310 Putnam County customers were without power, and just one of its 15,621 customers in Dutchess County were without power. Boom Truck Tips Over, Nearly Crushing Home In Northern Westchester
A boom truck working on removing trees behind a North Salem home tipped over, hitting the structure. The incident took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday when the truck tipped over and landed on the corner of the Lakeside Drive house that was recently purchased by new owners, North Salem Police Lt. Andrew Brown said. "They were lucky the home wasn't crushed," Brown said. The truck from Osorio Tree Service apparently tipped while doing tree work and landed on the edge of the house. Sustained gusty winds have resulted in hundreds of residents losing power Saturday in the area. At 3:45 p.m., Con Ed is reporting more than 600 outages in Westchester. There are 100 power outages among NYSEG customers, with the majority coming in Northern Westchester. Customers Report Outages In Putnam As Storms Strike
More than 200 Putnam residents are without power Monday afternoon as stormy weather moved through the county. With rain and strong wind gusts hitting the area, 214 of NYSEG’s 38,310 customers were reporting outages. Putnam Valley was hit the hardest, with 121 outages. Kent (87 outages) and Carmel (six) were also reporting outages. There may be no relief in sight for the Hudson Valley, as thunderstorms are expected to persist throughout the week as the region braces for the effects of Hurricane Florence, which is expected to be a Category 4 storm when it touches down on the East Coast.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is cautioning area residents to be wary of a NYSEG “Green Dot Money Paks” phone scam that makes the rounds annually each summer. For several years, during the dog days of summer, local businesses in Putnam County have reportedly received phone calls from scammers who claim to be representatives from NYSEG.
