Tropical Storm Isaias: High Winds Knock Out Power To 100,000 In Rockland, Orange
Nearly 100,000 Rockland and Orange County residents were left without power as Tropical Storm Isaias rocked the region with extreme wind gusts that toppled trees, felled utility poles and downed power lines throughout the area.
Orange & Rockland Utilities was reporting 2,476 outages in the Hudson Valley as of 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, impacting 71,013 of their 229,619 customers.
In Rockland County, there were 46,548 outages, with an additional 23,399 in Orange County. There were also a total of 1,066 outages in Sullivan and Ulster counties.

A suspect wanted for the shooting death of another man has been brought back to the area after leaving the state and charged with the crime.
Rockland County officials said Jason Jabouin, 33, of Haverstraw, was arraigned on murder charges on Wednesday, June 3, for the shooting death of Ryan Franklin in the Village of Nyack.
The incident took place around 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, in the area of South Midland Avenue, south of Depew Avenue, in Nyack, according to Orangetown Police.

As a new novel coronavirus (COVID-19) testing site has opened in Spring Valley, Rockland County continues to see much fewer COVID-19 cases.
According to numbers from the state Department of Health, there has been a total of 13,280 cases since the pandemic began with the highest number of cases located in Spring Valley with 2,897.

IDs Released For Suspect, Victim In Fatal Nyack Shooting
The identities of a suspect who has been apprehended and the victim in a fatal shooting in Nyack have been released.
The incident took place in Rockland County around 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, in the area of South Midland Avenue, south of Depew Avenue, in Nyack, according to Orangetown Police.
When police arrived on the scene they found the victim, Ryan L. Franklin, 30, of West Haverstraw, with apparent gunshot injuries.
