Authorities were trying to determine how a woman found critically injured on the freight train tracks in Northvale early Monday got there -- as well as who she is.The Asian woman, who appears to be in her 70s, was found around 8 a.m. on the railroad tracks south of Clinton Avenue, Police Chief William Essmann. Weather conditions canceled a medical chopper, so Englewood Hospital and Medical Center personnel took her to Hackensack University Medical Center, the chief said. Citywide Paterson Police Strikes Net Dealers, Buyers, 800 Heroin Folds, Coke, Cash, Gun
Paterson police arrested several dealers and buyers throughout the city over a 10-day span, seizing more than 800 heroin folds, 75 vials and 10 bags of crack, $1,660 in cash, and an illegal handgun and ammo, authorities said Thursday. In one strike, narcotics detectives hit a notorious drug neighborhood -- Godwin Avenue and Auburn Street -- arresting several accused street dealers and buyers while seizing 155 heroin folds, along with 66 vials and four bags of crack, Police Director Jerry Speziale said. Rock Climbing Gym Coming To Hackensack
A new rock climbing gym will soon be coming to Hackensack, city officials announced. Goat Climbing Gym will be located at 77 River St., across from the Heritage Diner at the former bank space, Deputy Mayor David Sims said. This will be the third rock climbing gym in Bergen County, the others being Gravity Vault in Upper Saddle River and High Exposure in Northvale. No word yet on an opening date. Check back for more.

SNOUT OUT: Police in Englewood and Woodcliff Lake have added specially-designed oxygen masks for pets to their life-saving equipment. Each set donated by at-home pet services provider Canine Company includes masks in three sizes to fit a range of pets, from small mammals to giant breed dogs. The special, cone-shaped resuscitation masks designed for a pet’s snout, which human masks don’t fit. : Residential Property Tax Bills Spiked Highest In These North Jersey Towns
Residential property tax bills spiked across New Jersey -- again. A new report by NJ 101.5 found that the median residential tax increase among 565 municipalities in 2018 was 1.9 percent -- down from a 2.1 percent increase in 2017. Only three towns across Bergen and Passaic counties saw decreases in residential property taxes: East Rutherford, Alpine and West Milford. These area towns saw the highest residential property tax increase last year, according to the NJ101.5 report. Missing Rockland Hikers Found, Firefighter Treated
A firefighter had to be treated for an undetermined injury after rescuers found four Rockland County hikers who’d become lost in the woods late Saturday night after crossing into New Jersey, responders said. One of the missing hikers was found near the Boy Scout camp in Alpine after they became lost in the Alpine-Rockleigh area, they said. Firefighters from Closter, Harrington Park, Old Tappan, Norwood and Northvale joined their colleagues from Orangetown in the search. The injured firefighter was taken to HUMC Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood.

An Old Tappan family was displaced by an early-morning fire that destroyed their newly-renovated home the day after Christmas. Homeowner Angelo Mazza said he awoke Wednesday around 7 a.m. to the smell of smoke and quickly got his wife, sister-in-law, 1-year-old twin boys and their dog out of the house. A youth sports coach from Northvale was carrying 14 bags of heroin, some loose pot and more when he was involved in a car crash in Closter's downtown shopping district, authorities confirmed. The president of the Northvale PTO was charged with pocketing $9,000 from a GoFundMe account established for three borough children who lost both parents. Kellyanne Carney, 43, was charged with misapplication of entrusted property after the Timpanaro family alerted police. According to Police Chief William Essmann, the family's “multiple attempts to contact the suspect both telephonically and via attorney were ignored."
