Police: Long Island Man Killed In NJ Turnpike Chain Reaction Crash
A 55-year-old man from Suffolk County man died in a chain reaction crash involving four vehicles on the New Jersey Turnpike in Bergen County, N.J., authorities said. The crash occurred when a box truck headed southbound hit the rear of a Nissan Altima at milepost 115.6 on the southbound side of the highway at 2:14 p.m. in Ridgefield Saturday, New Jersey State Police Trooper Goez said. The impact of the crash sent the Nissan into the car in front of it, a Toyota Highlander, which in-turn slammed a Honda CRV ahead, Goez said. OUT: Trash Truck Overturns In Elizabeth Monday
The Turnpike southbound near Exit 13 was partly blocked early Monday afternoon as Elizabeth firefighters and other first-responders dealt with a real mess of a traffic accident. A truck hauling what appeared to be construction waste toppled over, spilling debris across the roadway. It took about two hours to clean up the mess, the Elizabeth Fire Officers union said in a statement. No one was hurt.

The driver of a tractor trailer that fell off an overpass on the Turnpike in Carteret Sunday night has died, according to published reports. State Police said the truck was traveling northbound on an overpass near Interchange 12 around 6:30 p.m. when it struck a barrier and and a guard rail, overturning and dropping several feet from the overpass. Driver Critical After Garbage Truck Plummets Off Overpass
A Union City DPW garbage truck plummeted off an overpass onto westbound Route 495 in Weehawken after the driver suffered a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon, responders told Daily Voice. The driver was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with critical injuries, they said. A passenger in the truck sustained a broken femur, police at the scene told Daily Voice. Jersey City Man, 36, Killed In Newark Crash
A motorist died after a collision with a tractor-trailer in Newark Wednesday afternoon, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Jason Mullins, a 36-year-old from Jersey City, was traveling west on Raymond Boulevard near Chapel St. around 2:10 p.m. in a Chevy Trax when the crash occurred. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene. The accident occurred not far from a junction of major roadways including Rt. 1&9 and the Turnpike.

A truck dropped nearly a ton and a half of baled residential trash onto an exit ramp off Route 46 in Ridgefield Park and kept going Monday afternoon, authorities said. Maybe it was the traffic. Or the property taxes. Or that smell the seeps through your windows on the Turnpike. A new study found that more residents left New Jersey than any other U.S. state in 2018. United Van Lines, a St. Louis-based moving company, found that 66.8 percent of New Jersey moves were outbound. Connecticut (62 percent) and New York (65 percent) were among the top 10 outbound states for the fourth consecutive year.
