Police in Newark are asking the public to help find a man who stole a backpack containing a passport and $3,800 in cash. An image from surveillance video shows a man in a suit take the item July 12 at the Spring Hill Suites hotel near Newark Liberty International Airport. After grabbing the backpack, the man is seen entering an electric-blue four-door Mazda and driving off. He was last seen heading south on 1 & 9. A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal targeted shooting Tuesday morning that occurred in the heart of Newark's downtown, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday. Terrence J. Wilson, 26, of Newark was gunned down just before 10 a.m. at 171 Market Street. Lyft Driver Kidnapped At Gunpoint In Newark, Forced To Make Several Stops
Police in Newark are looking for a group of people who forced a ride share driver at gunpoint to take them to various locations in the area before robbing the driver, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. The Lyft driver picked up a fare on the 700 block of S. 18th Street around 3:30 p.m. April 7. Three passengers, who may have been juveniles, entered the vehicle and one pulled the gun.
