A tractor-trailer crash on I-95 in Howard County tied up traffic for hours and left one injured near the Prince George's County line, officials said. Three lanes were blocked southbound on the interstate near Exit 35 near Gorman Road, according to officials from the Maryland State Highway Administration, leaving just one lane for traffic to travel through in the area. Wrong Way Driver Kills One In Fiery Crash On Capital Beltway
One person was dead after a wrong way driver crashed into them, igniting their vehicle on the Capital Beltway, reports NBC Washington. Mignon Allison Kirksey, 51, was traveling in the northbound lanes when she was killed after Donisha Alexus Leatherwood, 30, struck her vehicle while going the wrong way on the Outer Loop of I-495 near Central Avenue around 3:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, the outlet reports. An 18-year-old bicyclist was killed after being struck by a car in Bethesda this week, reports NBC Washington. The cyclist was struck on Old Georgetown Road near the Wildwood Shopping Center after apparently cycling into the roadway for unknown reasons around 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, the outlet reports. Police Cadet From DC Arrested For Alleged Gunpoint Robbery In Montgomery County: Report
A 19-year-old police cadet from DC was taken into custody following an alleged gunpoint robbery in Montgomery County, NBC Washington reports. Christian Santos and his co-defendant allegedly pulled a gun on the victim while buying a pair of Jordan sneakers before driving away on Montrose Road in March, according to the report, which cites court documents. At least two people are dead and another is hospitalized after alleged opioid fentanyl overdoses at a DC jail, multiple sources report.
