The incident closely resembles a scam that occurred two weeks prior.
A Massapequa woman, age 86, was conned by a trio of scammers, including one pretending to be a police officer, according to a statement released by the actual Nassau County Police Department.
The incident occurred at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, when the victim was contacted over the phone by the fake police officer.
She was told that her daughter had been arrested and needed $9,800 for bail.

A group of people stole a handful of luxury purses totaling over $20,000, authorities, mirroring an incident that happened only a few days prior, police said.
On Friday, April 27 at around noon, three women and one man entered the East Garden City Louis Vuitton, located at the Roosevelt Field Mall on 630 Old County Road, according to Nassau County Police.
They allegedly were holding box cutters, which they used to cut the security wires that were holding purses in place.

The group stole merchandise in excess of $20,000, according to authorities.
At around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, four people made off with seven designer handbags, Nassau County Police reported.
The incident took place at the Manhasset Prada store, located at 2000 Northern Boulevard.
Comprised of three women and one man, the group entered the store wearing masks, took the handbags, and fled the store, pushing a sales associate to the floor in the process.
