Mount Laurel Man Gets Prison Time For Harassing His Neighbors, Racial Slurs
A 47-year-old man from Mount Laurel has been sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison for threatening his neighbors including hurling racial slurs, authorities said. Edward C. Mathews, formerly of Grammercy Way, pleaded guilty in October to four counts of bias intimidation and possession of drugs, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw. Passenger Killed In NJ Turnpike Crash
A 75-year-old passenger was killed in a rear-end collision on the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. Troopers responded to the crash at 2:32 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26 on the turnpike southbound in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County. Based on a preliminary investigation John Farah, 64, from Attleboro, MA, was driving a Nissan south on the turnpike's inner roadway, New Jersey State Police said. A 47-year-old man from Mount Laurel man has admitted harassing and using racial slurs against his neighbors while pleading guilty to a drug charge, authorities said. Edward C. Man Convicted Of Attempted Murder Escapes Work Detail In Burlington County
Authorities are looking for an inmate serving time for attempted murder who escaped from a work detail in Burlington County. Edward Berbon, serving a 22-year prison sentence, remains at large, Mount Laurel police said. Berbon, 54, was scheduled for release on Feb. 12, 2024 — his mandatory minimum sentence. A repeat drunk-driving offender was sentenced to 12 years in New Jersey State Prison for a crash that killed a popular restaurant owner last September.
