Familiar Face At Mahwah Public Library Carolyn Sengstacken Dies, 92
Carolyn Seberry Sengstacken died Oct. 20, 2020. She was 92 years old. For 25 years she was one of the familiar faces at the front desk of the Mahwah Public Library. Carolyn, daughter of Robert Ralph and Helen Milton Seberry, was raised in Cragmere, Mahwah, with her sister Barbara. She went on to earn an Associate’s degree. In those days, high school was attended in Ramsey, dances and “socials” in private homes. And it was there she met Royal F. Sengstacken Jr. of Suffern. Predawn Burglar Points Rifle At Montvale Woman, Crashes Stolen SUV Into Paramus Home
Awoken by a noise in the middle of the night, a Montvale homeowner was confronted by a burglar who pointed a rifle at her before taking her car and crashing it into a house off the Garden State Parkway in Paramus, authorities said. Paramus police found the abandoned Toyota Highlander in the backyard of a Highland Avenue home near the Exit 166 exit ramp shortly after 2:30 a.m. Monday. 19: Trio Of Bergen County Schools Go Remote
Three more Bergen County schools have switched to remote learning due to COVID-19. On Nov. 12, officials announced Fair Lawn's Warren Point school will be remote until Nov. 30. Two days prior, it was made public that the Forrest School was switching to remote learning, with in-person instruction set to resume Nov. 30. It was not clear how many individuals tested positive. Meanwhile, a pair of students at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale tested positive earlier this week. The school will be closed Nov. 13 through Nov. 23. In-person classes will resume Nov. 24.

A Bergen County high school went back to remote learning after a second student tested positive for COVID-19. Pascack Hills switched to virtual learning for two days last week after one individuals tested positive. The school will be holding classes remotely until Nov. 5, due to a second case reported Oct. 26. The school is closed Nov. 5 and 6 for a teachers convention, so in-person learning will resume Nov. 9. A switch to remote learning was the move for more schools in Bergen and Passaic counties due to COVID-19. At least two individuals tested positive at Northern Highlands Regional High School, which switched to virtual instruction on Thursday, Oct. 22. Another Bergen County high school has switched to remote learning after one individual returned a positive COVID-19 test. A non-teaching staff member at the Park Ridge Junior-Senior High School returned a positive rapid test according to a letter from officials sent Oct. 13. An executive chef who’s been featured on The Food Network was arrested after police in Montvale said he pointed what looked like a real gun at a vehicle stopped at a light.
