Mom Intentionally Drove Son Into Connecticut Lake In Murder/Suicide, Police Say
Police have determined that a mother “intentionally drove” into a Connecticut lake, killing herself and her son who was a passenger.
The incident took place on Friday, July 31, when Connie Crowell, age 54, of Monroe, and her passenger and son John Crowell, age 22, both died due to drowning when she drove an SUV into the Housatonic Lake in western New Haven County in the Town of Seymour, on Roosevelt Drive.
Seymour Deputy Police Chief Roberto Rinaldi said that following a lengthy investigation, the department has ruled the incident as a murder/suicide.

Fairfield County Woman Admits Role In Odometer Roll-Back Scheme
A Fairfield County woman has pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud stemming from the sale of numerous used vehicles with altered odometers.
Susan Cunningham, age 48, of Monroe, formerly of Blue Springs, Missouri, made the plea on Monday, Feb. 8, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, between approximately August 2014 and October 2015, Cunningham and Wilfredo J. Albanese, while living in Missouri, sold more than 40 vehicles with altered odometers to unsuspecting purchasers.

Two Hospitalized Following Fire At Home In Fairfield County
Two people were hospitalized following an early morning house fire in Fairfield County.
The fire began around 2:42 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 10, at a house on Hawley Road, in Shelton, said the Shelton Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a large volume of smoke coming from the home, with the fire located in the basement, the department said.
As firefighters worked to douse the flames, other members conducted a search of the home for victims, and additional fire spread. No victims were located and a minor fire extension was found to the first floor.

Man Drives Through Garage Wall, Into Basement, Hits Furnance, Monroe Fire Department Says
A driver accidentally drove through the wall of his garage and into the basement, authorities said.
The incident took place in Fairfield County on Wednesday, Jan. 6, in Monroe at a home on lower Wheeler Road, said the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
When the vehicle landed in the basement it hit the furnace, causing firefighters to secure the electrical, water line, and heating oil spill hazards.
