Trio Of Town Of Poughkeepsie Fires Displace 15 Arlington Fire District firefighters responded to three fires in the Town of Poughkeepsie from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, that left 15 homeless and kept the department running on top of other calls. The line-up of calls began Wednesday around 7:40 p.m. when firefighters responded to the Shady Brook Trailer Park at 67 Old Manchester Road for a reported burning odor in the wall. The first fire department unit arrived on the scene within minutes of the initial dispatch and confirmed an active fire in the wall. Driver Killed When SUV Strikes Garbage Truck In Cronomer Valley The driver of an SUV was killed Saturday morning when the vehicle crashed into a garbage truck in the Town of Newburgh. The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Route 32 (North Plank Road) near the intersection of Paffendorf Drive in the Cronomer Valley section of the town, said Lt. James Nenni of the Town of Newburgh Police Department. An SUV, which was traveling eastbound on Route 32, struck a garbage truck from behind.
