IDs Released For Teen Killed, Two Others Critically Injured In Long Island Expressway Crash
The identities have been released of a teenager who was killed and two others who were critically injured in an overnight crash on the Long Island Expressway.
The crash happened Monday, Sept. 6, at about 9:50 p.m. in Melville.
A 2005 Honda Civic, driven by Erick Alvarado, age 18, of Hicksville, was traveling eastbound on the LIE, near Exit 49S, when the vehicle struck an eastbound 2020 Mazda SUV, driven by Shadman Sami, age 24, Suffolk County Police said.
Both vehicles left the roadway and crashed into the woods.

Man, Woman From Nassau County Apprehended After Stealing SUV From Long Island Chick-fil-A
Two Long Island residents were arrested for allegedly stealing an SUV at a restaurant last month after an employee left his keys on a table.
An employee at Chic-fil-A, located at 1991 Broadhollow Road, in East Farmingdale, left the keys to a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse on a table in the dining area on Friday, May 28 at approximately 6:55 p.m., said the Suffolk County Police.
Another employee asked a customer, Jeffrey Dowling, if they were his keys. Dowling said they were and proceeded to steal the vehicle with his accomplice, Stacy Basso, police said.
