Handyman From Morristown Convicted Of Raping Pre-Teen While On Job In Demarest
A self-employed handyman was convicted Friday of raping a pre-teen while working at a Bergen County home. Alejandro Velasquez-Martinez, a 48-year-old Colombian national living in Morristown, sexually assaulted the girl while doing tile repairs in her family’s home in Demarest the morning of August 19, 2019, jurors in Hackensack found. Velasquez-Martinez was arrested in Demarest and then booked into the Bergen County Jail the next day. Superior Court Judge Nina Remson, who presided over the trial, scheduled sentencing for Aug. 4. A 53-year-old man from Newark was sentenced to 106 years behind bars for years-long sexual assaults of teenage sisters, authorities said. Atlantic City Man, 28, Admits Child Endangerment
A 28-year-old man from Atlantic City has pleaded guilty to child endangerment, authorities said. Christopher Almodovar admitted to committing acts that could lead to "the debauchment of the morals of a child under his care," the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said on Wednesday, March 8. Prosecutors did not elaborate.
