Former Dutchess County Supreme Court Justice, lawyer and pastor Ralph Beisner died at 78 on Monday, Dec. 14.
“Ralph Beisner dedicated his life to his family and his community, and Dutchess County joins his loved ones in mourning his passing and celebrating his legacy of strong faith and devoted service," said Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro of Beisner's passing. Former Dutchess County Legislator Dies At Age 88
Former Dutchess County Legislator Leonard Babiarz has died at the age of 88.
Babiarz died Sunday, Nov. 29, from congestive heart failure, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifetime Poughkeepsie resident, Babiarz loved to tell stories of his time as an altar boy at Saint Josephs, his paper routes across the city, selling war bonds during WW2, along with many memories of his time in the US Marine Corps, his long time membership and Presidency of the Polish American Citizens Club, and his 42-year career at Central Hudson, retiring in 1995, his obituary said.

2021 Dutchess Budget Proposal Reduces Spending With No Layoffs Or Tax Increase
Dutchess County's proposed 2021 budget reduced spending by 3.6 percent, or $18.6 million, with no employee layoffs or tax increases, according to County Executive Marc Molinaro.
The $501,832,097 budget, said the release, maintains county services and programs, includes new initiatives to address homelessness and housing, and includes funding for senior services, infrastructure improvements, county parks, mental health services and even police reform measures.

Covid-19: Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, Orange County Execs Ask Cuomo To Start Phase 3 Earlier
Some county executives in the Hudson Valley are imploring New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to allow the region to enter Phase 3 of reopening earlier than originally planned.
In a letter to Cuomo, the county execs in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, and Rockland county requested that the region be allowed to enter the third phase of reopening the economy earlier than originally scheduled.
In Phase 3, indoor dining is permitted, as well as personal care services such as nail salons and tattoo parlors, though all businesses will be under strict restrictions.
