Two East End Affordable Housing Developments Getting $1.8M From Suffolk County
Suffolk County will provide $1.8 million for two affordable housing projects on East End. One of these, Gansett Meadow will be located in Amagansett, and the second project, Vineyard View, will be located in Greenport, said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone in the announcement. The Gansett Meadow development will be less than half a mile away for the Long Island Rail Road station. The project will include 37 units, 36 of which will be affordable to residents. A Woodcliff Lake-based contractor will pay $1.87 million to the U.S. government to resolve charges that it cut corners on a federally-funded contract to build a railroad bridge connecting Queens and Brooklyn. A state of emergency has been declared by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday in four Hudson Valley counties: Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Sullivan. First Woman Named Metro-North President
Catherine Rinaldi has been named the first female president of Metro-North Railroad. Rinaldi, has served as acting president of Metro-North since July 2017, and previously was Metro-North’s executive vice president, beginning in 2015. On Wednesday, Feb. 21 she was officially named president. She replaces Joe Giulietti who resigned last July after three years leading the railroad.
