$2M Fraud Scheme: Long Island Trio Steals Millions From Financial Services Company, Feds Say
Three Long Island men are among several people accused in an elaborate scheme to defraud a financial services company out of millions.
An indictment unsealed in Central Islip federal court on Tuesday, Oct. 31, charges four men with conspiring to commit securities fraud and money laundering.
The following Suffolk County residents are named in the indictment:
Christopher Flagg (aka “Venus”), age 28, of Copiague
Daquan Lloyd (aka “Payday”), age 29, of Copiague

Quadruple Homicide: Man Indicted For Fatal Long Island Crash
A man who allegedly drove under the influence of cocaine, causing a Long Island crash that killed four family members faces up to 25 years behind bars if he’s convicted, authorities announced.
On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Michael DeAngelo, age 32 of Lindenhurst, was arraigned on multiple charges related to the wreck, including vehicular homicide, for the August 2023 crash in Massapequa, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
On Sunday, Aug. 8, 60-year-old Patrice Huntley was celebrating a new job offer by taking five of his family members out for ice cream.

Long Island Woman Scams Nearly $20K In Stamps With Fake Checks: Police
A Long Island woman traveled to post offices across Long Island buying tens of thousands of stamps with false checks, police said.
Stephany A. Moreira, age 27, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 31 for charges including larceny and scheme to defraud, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
From Tuesday, June 6 to Thursday, June 8, Moreira, a Lindenhurst resident, allegedly purchased 36,600 stamps throughout Nassau County using 21 insufficient checks.
As a result, the US Postal Service lost $19,278, police said.

Man On Cocaine, Fentanyl Drove 120 MPH During Long Island Crash That Killed Dad, Kids: Police
The man responsible for a triple-fatal crash on Long Island has been identified and faces multiple charges, police announced.
On Friday, Aug. 11, Nassau County Police announced that Michael Deangelo, age 32, was arrested in connection to a Massapequa car crash that killed three members of the same family.
Deangelo, who is from Lindenhurst, was reportedly driving under the influence of cocaine and fentanyl on Sunday, Aug. 6 on Sunrise Highway when he hit three other cars at approximately 7:20 p.m.
One second prior to the impact, he was traveling 120.55 miles per hour.

2 Killed In Separate Crashes In North Lindenhurst, Huntington
Two people were killed in separate Long Island crashes on Saturday, Aug. 5.
The first happened at around 2:45 p.m. in North Lindenhurst.
A 56-year-old West Babylon man was driving a 2008 Ford E250 van northbound on Straight Path, at the intersection of Wellwood Avenue, when his vehicle struck an electric scooter, Suffolk County Police said.
Shawn Gavigan, age 67, of Lindenhurst, who was riding the scooter, crossing Wellwood Avenue eastbound from Heathcote Road, police said.
