After firing the shots that nearly killed two people hiding in a closet, an 82-year-old Berks County man surrendered at police headquarters, LehighValleyLive reports.
It all began around 7:30 p.m. Monday when a woman and a girl told police that Hidalgo Rivera, of Fountain Hill, wanted the girl to leave the home in the 800 block of North Clewell Street, the news outlet says.
Rivera then went out to his car, and re-entered the home with a gun, claiming he was going to kill the girl, reports say.

An ex-convict was arrested Thursday morning after a search of his Easton apartment turned up thousands of dollars’ worth of heroin, cocaine and items used to make “ghost guns,” authorities said.
Easton Police carried out a search warrant at the S. 7th Street apartment of Jeffrey Brownlee, 36, who they say was actively selling narcotics and possibly manufacturing unlicensed firearms known as “ghost guns,” authorities said.

A Bethlehem man pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in connection with the 2019 shooting death of a man in his Whitehall Township home, reports say.
Michael Layton, 26, admitted he helped kill Jeffrey Werner, 53, on Oct. 18, 2019, with initial plans to rob him, LehighValleyLive reports citing the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.
