Police Eye Gang Members After Two Jeeps Are Stolen In New Canaan
Police are eyeing gang members as suspects after two Jeeps were stolen in New Canaan. New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said the department received complaints on Sunday, May 5, that a 2017 Jeep Wrangler was stolen from the driveway of a residence on Barnegat Road, and that a 2016 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the driveway of a residence on upper Elm Street. An investigation is underway after a local woman was seriously injured when her SUV rolled over her in a busy Stamford parking lot. The initial investigation revealed that Anne Wade, a 54-year-old Stamford resident, was entering her vehicle, which was parked in the lot at 15 High Ridge Rd., Stamford Police said. According to witnesses, Wade was having problems releasing her emergency brake before she exited her vehicle and was then somehow able to get the brake released, according to police. Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 1.6 million vehicles worldwide as auto companies continue replacing malfunctioning Takata front airbags that have proven to be dangerous over the past year. Vehicle Burglaries Reported In Darien
Darien Police have reported three motor vehicle burglaries that occurred in the area on Wednesday, Dec. 26. The first burglary occurred at 22 Edgewood Road and was reported just after 9 a.m. The complainant said they arrived home around 10 p.m. the night before and parked two vehicles in the driveway, neither one of them locked. Man Pleads Guilty Of Trying To Torch Jeep In Blooming Grove, Report Says
ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. - A 28-year-old man has pleaded guilty to torching a Jeep in Blooming Grove last year, according to a Times Herald-Record report. Little Ferry, N.J. resident Michael Ferrante Jr. pleaded guilty to attempted third-degree arson after admitting to attempting to light a friend's 2008 Jeep Wrangler on fire in Orange County last July, according to the report. As part of the guilty plea, it is expected that Ferrante will be sentenced to six months in jail, followed by five years probation. The judge reportedly capped the sentence at that term.
