Nearly 200 Cars Stolen Over The Weekend In Connecticut, Sept. 12-13
Nearly 200 motor vehicles were stolen in Connecticut over the weekend.
From, Saturday to Sunday, Sept. 12-13, 179 cars were stolen in Connecticut, according to Hartford Police.
Of the stolen cars 68 percent - 122 vehicles - were stolen with the key fobs left inside the cars, police said.
“This is what is happening while you sleep,” Hartford Police said. “Lock your cars. Take your fobs.”
The thefts are mostly crimes of opportunity. This weekend, Hartford Police said a 15 and 16-year-olds were arrested in a car stolen from Enfield.

Eight Unlocked Vehicles Broken Into In Darien, Police Say
Police issued an alert after nearly a dozen unlocked vehicles were broken into in Darien.
On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the Darien Police Department announced that nine cars had recently been burglarized, with open storage compartments and disturbed items from those compartments strewn throughout the vehicles.
Nine break-ins and attempted break-ins were reported on Oakshade Avenue, Stanley Road, Libby Lane, Holly Lane, and Hollow Tree Ridge Road between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
No items were stolen in eight of the break-ins, though a tool was taken from a vehicle on Holly Lane.

Brick PD: Auto Theft Suspects From Atlantic City, Newark Nabbed
A pair of suspected car thieves were arrested at a Brick Plaza Auto Zone, authorities said.
The suspects, pulled over in a stolen BMW and stolen Jeep Cherokee, also were charged with multiple drug and weapon violations, Brick Township police said.
Arrested were Romario Sharrier, 25, of Newark and Oscar Euceda, 18, of Atlantic City, police said.

A Toms River man faces a plea-bargained seven years in state prison after admitting he left the scene of a crash that killed a 15-year-old Lakewood boy last fall, authorities said.
In addition to "knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death," Alexander Politan, 31, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Toms River to driving with a suspended license, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Woman Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Belleville Identified
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has identified the woman killed Monday night in Belleville when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street.
Nora Hernandez, a 56-year-old Newark resident, was hit around 6:37 p.m. as she was crossing Washington Avenue near Mill Street. She was hit by a 2017 Jeep Cherokee and the driver remained at the scene, the prosecutor's office also said.
Hernandez was taken to Clara Maass Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m.

A 70-year-old Long Island woman who went missing has been located.
Grace Bentley, 70, had last been seen leaving her Medford residence, located at Lorraine Court, Saturday, Nov. 9 at approximately 12:15 p.m. She was found later in the afternoon, Suffolk County Police said.
