Police are investigating an overnight Long Island Expressway crash that left a woman seriously injured.
It happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30 in Islandia.
A man was riding a 2021 Yamaha Motorcycle on the westbound LIE near Old Nichols Road, when his passenger fell off the rear of the motorcycle, Suffolk County Police said.
The passenger, Denise Chotalal, age 46, of Jamaica, Queens, was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

144 Pounds Of Pot Found, Driver Busted In Teaneck Pickup Stop
Detectives found 144 pounds of pot in a pickup truck in Teaneck and took the driver into custody, authorities said.
Adrian Diaz Resendiz, a 30-year-old food prep worker from Jamaica, Queens, was “transporting bulk shipments of marijuana through Bergen County,” Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
He was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute it and sent to the Bergen County Jail, Musella said.
A judge released him the next day, with conditions, following a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, records show.

A driver involved in a two-vehicle Long Island crash was driving drunk with a 2-year-old in the car, police said.
Nassau County Police say that on Friday, Oct. 8 at 5:25 p.m., a Fourth Precinct Police Officer on patrol in Inwood observed a crash eastbound at the intersection of Sheridan Boulevard and Bayswater boulevard.
The crash involved a blue 2006 BMW four-door sedan, which struck a 2003 Chevrolet SUV from behind, according to police.
After interviewing the driver of the BMW, Andrew A. Thomas, age 30, of Jamaica, Queens, the officers smelled alcohol, according to police.

The crash happened Monday, Sept. 6, at about 9:50 p.m. in Melville.
A 2005 Honda Civic, driven by Erick Alvarado, age 18, of Hicksville, was traveling eastbound on the LIE, near Exit 49S, when the vehicle struck an eastbound 2020 Mazda SUV, driven by Shadman Sami, age 24, Suffolk County Police said.
