Padiddle: Route 17 Stop Produces Gun, Ammo, Rochelle Park PD Says
A Rochelle Park police officer found a handgun after stopping a car driven by an ex-con from Newark on Route 17, authorities said Friday.
Officer Chris Kiszka stopped the gray Infiniti for having a headlight out -- commonly known as a "padiddle" -- among other infractions, shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, Lt. James DePreta said.
Kiszka immediately detected the odor of pot in the car, then spotted what was a loaded, high-capacity 9mm magazine on the floor, DePreta said.
A subsequent search turned up a loaded 9mm handgun, marijuana and a digital scale, he said.

Four High-End Vehicles Stolen From Driveways In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County police department is reporting that four vehicles have been stolen out of driveways over the past four days.
The thefts took place between Thursday, Nov. 5, and Monday, Nov. 9, in New Canaan, said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.
According to Krolikowski, around 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, officers responded to Clapboard Hill Road to investigate a report of two motor vehicles missing from the resident's driveway.

A Lyndhurst police officer busted a Union City driver with dozens of marijuana-infused candies, gummies and brownies, as well as a bag of pot, authorities said Tuesday.
Officer Anthony Giaquinto stopped an Infiniti driven by Fabian Figueroa, 41, on Riverside Avenue near Tontine Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Monday for having heavily tinted windows and an expired inspection sticker, Lt. Vincent Auteri said.
Approaching the car, Giaquinto immediately smelled a "strong and distinct" odor of raw pot, Auteri said.
