The Westchester County Police Marine Unit rescued two people in the Hudson River after their kayak overturned off Irvington. A husband and wife, in their 50s, from Irvington, were clinging to the kayak when the Westchester County Police Marine Unit patrol boat arrived on scene about 3:35 p.m.Wednesday, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the department. A search for a missing man who may have been swept away by flood waters on Tuesday has been called off. North Haven Fire Chief Paul Januszewski said the search was called off around noon Wednesday after the entire area where the man had been reported missing was canvassed. Man Clinging To Branch After Trying To Save Dog Rescued From Croton River
A simple walk with his dog turned into a nightmare for a man who ended up clinging to a tree branch to keep from drowning in the rushing water of the Croton River. The man became stranded while chasing his dog who ran into the water in the Croton Gorge Park section of the river around 7 p.m. Wednesday, said the Croton Fire Department on Facebook. Woman Walking Dog Discovers Dead Body Near Stamford Softball Field
A woman walking a dog discovered the body of a man who had frozen to death while sleeping on a park bench at Cummings Park, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police said the woman found the unidentified 41-year-old man around 8 a.m. Wednesday on the bench, but he was not pronounced dead until doctors at Stamford Hospital tried to warm his body for about two hours, said the Advocate.
