River Vale Bicyclist Hospitalized In Old Tappan Crash
A River Vale bicyclist was hospitalized after colliding with an SUV near the Rockland border in Old Tappan. The 55-year-old Old Tappan driver of the Honda CR-V was headed east on Old Tappan Road when she slowed down for a vehicle making left turn onto Orangeburg Road shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Police Chief James Tracy said. The bicyclist said he was passing the CRV on the right when the driver swerved to avoid the turning vehicle. He slammed into the passenger-side mirror, breaking it off, the chief said. A 31-year-old man suffered serious injuries and a woman was also hospitalized in a two-vehicle Long Island crash. It happened just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Lindenhurst. The man was traveling northbound on New Highway when his 2013 Suzuki motorcycle collided with a southbound 2014 Honda CR-V that was turning east onto Route 109 from New Highway, Suffolk County Police said. Several weekend motorcycle crashes in North Jersey – including at least one fatality – began Friday when a Newark motorcyclist was killed on Route 280. Charles L. Henderson III was ejected when his motorcycle overturned on the westbound highway in Roseland, New Jersey State Police said. An 86-year-old Tenafly man was hospitalized after he was struck by an SUV driven by an 84-year-old Englewood woman, authorities said.
