As much as 2 feet of snow fell overnight Monday, March 13, through Tuesday morning, leaving some roads impassable and knocking out power to thousands. 20 LBs Of Coke, $100K In Cash, Guns: Drug Ring Bust Nabs 8 In Springfield, Police Say
A multi-organizational investigation disrupted a drug ring in Western Massachusetts over a month where police arrested eight people and seized millions worth of drugs, guns, and more than $100,000 cash, authorities said. The arrested began on Jan. 27 and continued through Feb. 17, Massachusetts State Police said in a Wednesday, March 8, news release. During a series of several raids, officers and agents found 9.5 kilograms of cocaine, 2.3 kilos of fentanyl packaged to look like heroin, 111,2000 baggies, 28 grams of fentanyl pills, 18 pounds of marijuana, $104,000 in cash, authorities said.…

One Person Injured In Western Mass Car Crash: Firefighters
One person was sent to the hospital following a car crash in Hampden County earlier this week, authorities said. The wreck was reported around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, near the intersection of Hampshire and Maple streets in Holyoke, firefighters said. The vehicle rolled onto its roof and needed to be stabilized before crews could remove the injured to get them help. One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. It's unclear if anyone else was inside the car when it crashed. The Holyoke Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.

A sexual assault case that has been unfolding for almost two years wrapped up in the maximum sentence for the offender, according to court records. Hampden County resident Miguel Rivera, age 49, of Holyoke, was arrested in Hartford County by Enfield Police in December 2020, according to court documents.
