Police ID 23-Year-Old Fatally Struck By Truck In Hillside
Authorities have identified the 23-year-old Hillside man struck and killed by a truck on Tuesday, Jan. 10, authorities said. Derek J. Scott was in the roadway in front of 11 Vine St. when he was struck around 10:45 a.m., HPD Chief Vincent Ricciardi said. It wasn't immediately clear why he was in the street at the moment of the incident.

US Marshals Capture Pair In 16-Year-Old Jersey City Boy's 2021 Murder
Two men have been charged in connection with the March 2021 murder of a 16-year-old Jersey City boy, authorities announced Monday, Dec. 12. Members of the US Marshals Service captured Khalil Kelley, 23, at his job in Hillside on Friday, Dec. 9, while Roger Pickett Jr., 22, was charged at the Hudson County Jail where he's detained on charges relating to a Nov. 1, 2022 shooting death, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A 23-year-old woman stabbed her 27-year-old friend-turned-foe multiple times inside of a North Jersey liquor store Friday, Oct. 28, the victim's dad told police. The victim was at Mayfair Liquors on North Broad Street in Hillside when she began arguing with Daja Harris, who was there with two other females and two other males waiting outside around 9 p.m., Hillside police said. NJ Man Killed In Construction Accident At Hindu Temple Accused Of Human Trafficking
A 57-year-old man killed last week in a construction accident at a Hindu temple in South Jersey had been accused of human trafficking, police said. The unidentified man was found unresponsive when police arrived at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir temple on North Main Street in Robbinsville around 3:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, authorities said. Three people were arrested after a large fight and shooting that placed Hillside High School on lockdown — after students were dismissed — until 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, authorities said. An ex-con with a lengthy rap sheet was walking with a gas can in the middle of the afternoon when a Lyndhurst police officer pulled up and asked where he was headed. Antwon Cooper, 43, of Hillside, NJ told Officer Matthew Giunta that his Hyundai Sonata had run out of gas just up the road. Cooper ended up getting a ride -- to police headquarters. A veterinarian in Newark has been charged with animal cruelty after two dogs died in his care, authorities said. Ehren Seth Yablon, who owns the Newark Veterinary Hospital on Wilson Avenue, told one dog owner that her pet died during surgery but surgery was never performed, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N.
