More Than Half Of NJ's Coronavirus Deaths Reported At These Nursing Homes
More than half of the coronavirus fatalities reported in New Jersey are linked to nursing homes and longterm care facilities, state officials said Tuesday. More than 500 facilities have come under scrutiny after 4,151 fatalities of the state's 8,244 were reported at the homes, Gov. Phil Murphy said. NJ Schools Closed For Remainder Of Year, HS Sports Cancelled
New Jersey's schools will remain closed for the remainder of the year, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday. Online learning will continue for the rest of the year "to protect the health of our children, our educators, and their families," he said. "Guided by safety and science, this is the best course of action." The NJSIAA also cancelled spring sports citing a lack of viable testing. Ocean County Fitness Center Ticketed For Breaking State Coronavirus Shutdown
Police cracked down on a Point Pleasant fitness center for violating the state's ban on operating "non-essential" businesses during the coronavirus outbreak, authorities said. Anytime Fitness on Route 88 allowed some customers to enter a side door and workout, Point Pleasant police said in a statement. NJ Officials: Emergency Child Care Assistance for Essential Employees Extended Through May
New Jersey will continue to provide emergency child care assistance to essential employees through at least the end of May, state authorities announced Tuesday. More than 2,700 employees were laid off from Tropicana Atlantic City with state-ordered casino closures extended another month, according to a WARN notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. WATCH: Drones will be flying around the city of Elizabeth warning citizens to follow Gov. Phil Murphy's social distancing directives or face fines of up to $1,000, Mayor Chris Bollwage said.
