Ford announced a recall of more than 45,000 vehicles that have faulty door latches that could potentially break, allowing them to fly open while motorists are driving. The recall includes the 2015 Ford Fiesta, 2016 Ford Fusion, and 2016 Lincoln MKZ models, according to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA). "The latch pawl spring tab design is susceptible to cracking and failure in areas with high ambient temperatures," officials say. A passenger caught with methamphetamine at a Schuylkill County traffic stop swallowed the evidence and ran away, according to state police. Authorities said 37-year-old Shawn M. Tobin was the passenger in a Ford they stopped near Lang and Pike Streets in Port Carbon on Nov. 22. When a trooper allegedly found drugs in the car, police said Tobin snatched it from his hands and "ingested it" before running away from the traffic stop on foot. It’s been a year since a beloved husband and father was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Long Island Expressway, and police still have no suspects. Robert Twiford, age 61, of Melville, died Dec. 5, 2022, after being struck on the off-ramp of eastbound I-495 at exit 60 in Ronkonkoma. A transit van driver was seriously injured after being rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on Route 78 in Hunterdon County on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 28, state police said. A 65-year-old passenger was killed and a driver seriously injured in an early morning crash on Route 80 on Tuesday, Nov. 21, state police confirmed. A Hyundai passenger vehicle and Ford van were heading westbound when the Hyundai attempted a lane change and struck the Ford near milepost 34.4 in Rockaway Township around 6:50 a.m., NJSP Trooper Troy McNair told Daily Voice. 8-Year-Old Horseback Rider Seriously Injured In New Jersey SUV Crash
An 8-year-old horseback rider suffered serious injuries in a crash with an SUV in North Jersey this week, authorities said. The child was riding the horse along Linn Smith Road in Frankford Township, when the horse traveled into the roadway and struck the side of a Ford SUV around 5:10 p.m, New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said.
