Sixteen nonviolent drug offenders were granted clemency by President Joe Biden, including two with ties to Virginia and one from Washington DC. Katrina Polk, 54, pleaded guilty to a nonviolent drug offense at 18 years old. She served her sentence and completed the terms of her release. Maryland Fugitive Playing 'Drunk Monopoly' Arrested In Virginia
A 35-year-old man with multiple warrants was arrested in Virginia after what he called a game of "Drunk Monopoly." Marque Alston, of Waldorf, MD, was spotted urinating next to a dumpster near the Quality Inn on Greenspring Drive in Stafford, VA around 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, the sheriff's department said in a release. Sergeant Jacobeen made contact with Alston, who wreaked of alcohol and became agitated and started yelling when Jacobeen tried to identify him, police said. Alston also said he couldn’t be detained. Homeless Man Throws Shopping Cart At Face Of Safeway Worker, Assaults Officer: Fairfax PD
A homeless man is facing charges after authorities say he threw a shopping cart at the face of a Safeway worker then assaulted an officer in Fairfax. Javonne Simms, 31, had gotten into an argument with the employee of the Willard Way store on Friday, March 29, local police said. He was later identified as a suspect and taken into custody. During his arrest, Simms assaulted an officer, police said. He was charged with malicious wounding, assault on an officer, and more.

A 30-year-old National Guardsman changing his tire on the shoulder of the Capital Beltway was struck and killed by a DUI driver and his girlfriend seriously injured over the weekend in Virginia, according to police and loved ones. Snow Day! Weather Closes Schools Across Virginia
Schools across Northern Virginia are closed Tuesday, Jan. 16 due to the snow. Snow began falling across the region Monday, Jan. 15, and is expected to turn to a wintry mix overnight. All Fairfax, Stafford, Loudoun, Prince William, Alexandria, and Arlington public schools will be closed on Tuesday. The National Weather Service shows Northern Virginia is expected to see 1 to 3 inches by the end of the night Monday, Jan. 15. Undercover Prostitution Bust Nets 5 Arrests At 2 Hotels Virginia: Sheriff
Fugitives were among five people arrested in an undercover prostitution sting at two motels in Stafford County this week, authorities said. Stafford County Sheriff's Detective RJ Grella met a woman online on Dec. 12, and met up with her at the Staybridge Suites on Richmond Highway after a brief text exchange, Sheriff David Decatur said. Grella and patrol deputies made contact with the woman and found drugs in the room, Decatur said. Evan Patchett of Reston died peacefully on Dec. 3 at Inova Loudoun Hospital, according to his obituary. He was 31 years old. Beltway Crash: Heavy Delays Reported In I-495 Fairfax Accident
A crash on I-495 caused major backups Wednesday, Nov. 15 in Fairfax. According to the VDOT, the crash at mile marker 44.5 caused one mile of delays on the northbound side as of 2:30 p.m. It happened near the Dulles Access Road intersection.
