Westminster, DC Drivers Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-495 In Fairfax County: State Police
A Maryland woman and a DC man are dead after a wrong-way crash on the Capital Beltway in Northern Virginia, Virginia State Police announced.
Tremayne Gross, 24, of Washington, DC, and Meghan Elizabeth Mathis, 32, of Westminster, were both killed in a head-on crash early Sunday morning, July 6, on I-495 in Fairfax County, according to state police.
Investigators said the crash happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the northbound Express Lanes near mile marker 48.
Gross was driving a 2017 Ford Edge southbound in the northbound lanes when he slammed into Mathis’ 2004 Jeep Patriot, police said. …

A man is in custody in Virginia after allegedly shooting someone he knew during a deadly argument earlier this month in Maryland, police announced.
Aaron Zavier Jefferson, 33, of Upper Marlboro, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Dequan Clinkscale, of Capitol Heights, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
On Saturday, June 7, at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Warfield Drive for the report of an unresponsive man in a parking garage.

A trusted Fairfax County aquatics director has been charged with indecent liberties after allegedly having unlawful contact with a teen staffer at a rec facility, authorities said.
Nicholas Ambrose, 28, of Alexandria, was arrested on Wednesday, June 11, after an investigation by the Fairfax County Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit.
According to police, officers were called around 10:49 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, to the 8100 block of Braddock Road in Annandale after a juvenile employee reported “inappropriate contact” with a supervisor.
