A Newark pair has been charged in connection with a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that left a Montclair officer injured, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, announced Wednesday.
Rajon Norwood, 48, was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest by flight, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Essex County Jail.

An East Orange man's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit when he crashed into a tree causing his 19-year-old passenger to have one of her legs amputated, authorities said Friday.
Charles D. Sloan, Jr., 33, was charged with second-degree assault by auto causing serious bodily injury while intoxicated within 1,000 feet of school property, fourth degree assault by auto, and fourth degree causing serious bodily injury while driving on a suspended license, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said in a joint release.

Elizabeth Man Charged In Hit-Run Death Of Newark Man
An Elizabeth man was arrested in the hit-and-run accident that killed a Newark man last month, authorities said Friday.
Francisco Salazar, 35, was behind the wheel of a Jeep Wrangler that struck Devere L. Rogers, 42, who was walking near McCarter Highway and 4th Avenue Aug. 15 around 11:40 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
Rogers was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 30 minutes later, Ambrose and Stephens said.
