Covid-19: Long Island Sees Slight Uptick In Cases, Here's Breakdown By Towns
Long Island has seen a slight uptick in positive COVID-19 cases though statewide numbers continue trending in the right direction.
There have now been 44,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nassau, and 45,006 in Suffolk as each county saw less than 100 new cases in the latest numbers provided by the state Department of Health.
There have been 2,198 COVID-19 fatalities in Nassau and 2,005 in Suffolk.
On Long Island, the positive infection rate over the past three days:
Monday, Aug. 31: 1.0 percent;
Tuesday, Sept. 1: 0.8 percent;
Wednesday, Sept. 2: 1.1 percent.

Five store clerks on Long Island are facing charges for selling booze to minors during an underage drinking detail conducted by Nassau County Police
On Thursday, July 30, Nassau County Police officers targeted local businesses for selling alcohol to minors using an underage agent leading to citations being issued to employees at five Long Island locations.
Those charged are:

Man Barricades Himself Inside Long Island Home, Sets Fire, Police Say
A Long Island man was charged after allegedly barricading all of the doors of his home and then setting it on fire while inside.
Kevin Meyer, 31, of East Rockaway, was charged Monday, March 30, with various crimes following the event that took place around 11:49 a.m. on Elbert Place, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Meyer, while alone in his home, intentionally set fire to the residence and called 911.
Responding officers attempted to gain entry into the home but found all of the doors had been intentionally barricaded, police said.

Suspect Nabbed In String Of Nassau County Burglaries
A suspect is in police custody in connection to a string of burglaries at housing complexes in Nassau County.
Adron Douglas, 30, of Jamaica, Queens, after a subsequent investigation involving video surveillance and DNA evidence, has been identified as the person responsible for breaking into the following establishments and removing cash from within, according to Nassau County Police detectives.
