Long Island Man Sentenced For Swindling 32 Homeowners Out Of More Than $600K
A Long Island man will spend time behind bars after pleading guilty to stealing more than $600,000 from 32 homeowners as part of a mortgage modification scheme. Dix Hills resident Mark Savransky, 59, has been sentenced to a term of three to six years in prison for scamming the homeowners out of a total of $601,546.92, which he must also pay in restitution. Savransky pleaded guilty in October last year to two counts of second-degree grand larceny, felonies, and scheme to defraud, a misdemeanor. A Medford woman drove drunk with her son in the car during a hit-and-run crash in East Northport, according to Suffolk County Police. Susan Striplin was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon SUV southbound on Daly Road Monday, July 15 when she reportedly sideswiped a 2013 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Phyllis Drive in East Northport, police said. Police are asking the public's help to identify and locate the man and woman who attempted to use credit cards that were stolen in East Northport in May. Suffolk County Police said a man and woman stole a Louis Vuitton purse that contained cash and credit cards from a shopping cart at Stop and Shop, located at 3126 Jericho Turnpike, on May 10 at approximately 10:50 a.m. The two drove away in a red sports utility vehicle, said police. Suffolk County Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the alleged thief who is wanted for grand larceny. More than 20 abandoned cats are looking for new owners after they were found abandoned without food or water in a dilapidated Centerport home. In total, 22 cats were found inside a deteriorating Taylor Street home with empty food and water bowls, surrounded by trash and filth.
