Danbury Firefighters Tackle Blaze In Elevator Shaft At La Quinta Hotel DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury firefighters extinguished a minor fire in the elevator shaft at the La Quinta Inn & Suites on Newtown Road on a frigid Monday afternoon, according to a Facebook post. The situation at the hotel was under control, and there were no injuries reported in the New Year's Day fire, the fire department said. Firefighters: Flames Burn Through Roof Of Danbury Home DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury firefighters worked in frigid temperatures to knock down a large blaze in a home on Fleetwood Drive on late Sunday afternoon.  Flames were visible when firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire in a Cape-style home at 12 Fleetwood Drive after 4:30 p.m., according to the News-Times.      "Rough fire tonight on Fleetwood Drive," Mayor Mark Boughton said via Twitter @MayorMark.
