Driver Killed In Route 49 Crash In South Jersey (Update)
A 72-year-old driver from Florida was killed in a crash along Route 49 in Atlantic County, authorities said.
Troopers responded to the crash at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, on Route 49 West at milepost 49 in Estell Manor, according to New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Charles Marchan.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Mark Jones of Cape Coral, FL, was driving a Ford Escape when it traveled off the road and struck a tree, Marchan said.
As a result of the crash, Jones sustained fatal injuries, he said.
The crash remains under investigation.

South Jersey Man, 58, Gets Prison For Sexually Assaulting 5 Girls Under Age Of 13: Prosecutor
A 58-year-old man from Vineland was sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison for sexually assaulting five girls under the age of 13 over a 10-year period, authorities said.
Jesus Figueroa was sentenced on Friday, June 28, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Figueroa must serve a minimum of 85% of the 10 years before being considered eligible for parole, she said. Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and be subject to parole supervision for life.
