Increase In Counterfeit Currency Cases Reported In Putnam County An increase in the use of counterfeit money has been reported in Putnam County. Currently, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office is investigating several cases in which counterfeit $100 bills are being used to make smaller purchases at convenience stores, drug stores, and eateries, the department said. The small purchase being made allows the suspects to walk away with legal money leaving their unsuspecting victims short financially, the department said.
