Matthew Alexander Buchannon, 20, was arrested following an investigation into a reported assault that left a woman on life support, officials said on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, officers were called to the 3300 block of Patapsco Place in Waldorf, where there was a report of a woman who had been knocked unconscious.

A late-night UTV crash in Maryland killed a 27-year-old woman while her driver was airlifted to the hospital, authorities said.
Charles County resident Gabrielle Wareham, 27, of Port Tobacco, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash on Friday, Sept. 5, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon.
The wreck happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of Carol Road in Port Tobacco, when investigators say a UTV left the roadway, hit multiple objects and struck an embankment before coming to a stop.
